The Tongariro Crossing is a popular day hike in Tongariro National Park on the north island. (Over 1,000 people can be strung out over its 17km on a peak day) Luckily we hiked it outside of peak season and had an amazing trip. Looming active volcanoes, pancake flat craters, sulfur vents, emerald lakes, what's not to love?
